Skoda is entering the crowded sub-compact SUV market in India with a new challenger! Recently spotted test mules reveal some key details about this upcoming competitor to the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon, and others.

Boxy Design with Familiar Touches

This new Skoda SUV will follow the design language of its bigger sibling, the Kushaq, featuring a boxy and squared-off body. The front boasts a unique split headlamp design with LED DRLs doubling as turn indicators on top and the main LED headlights positioned lower in the middle fascia. Skoda’s signature butterfly grille completes the look, framed by a sizable air dam with a honeycomb pattern grille in the lower bumper.

Square Proportions on the Sides

The sides continue the boxy theme with balanced proportions and squared-off wheel arches similar to the Kushaq. The spotted test mule sported 16-inch steel wheels with blacked-out covers on lower trims, and roof rails complete the profile.

Simple Rear Design

The rear, again hinting at a lower-spec variant, shows taillights similar to the Kushaq. There’s no rear defogger, wiper, shark fin antenna, or camera seen on this test mule.

Interior Likely Borrows from Kushaq

While the test mules don’t reveal the interior, speculations suggest a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system in the center of the dashboard. We can expect a cabin layout similar to the Kushaq.

Smaller TSI Engine Expected

Powering this new SUV is likely to be Skoda’s familiar 1.0-liter TSI turbo petrol engine, the same one found in the Slavia and Kushaq. This engine is expected to deliver 115 PS of power and 178 Nm of torque. Transmission options will likely include a 6-speed manual and an automatic.

2025 Launch and Tough Competition

Skoda is yet to announce an official launch date, but reports suggest a 2025 arrival. This new SUV will be thrown into the competitive ring against established players like the Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, Kia Sonet, and Hyundai Venue. With its bold design and familiar features, Skoda is aiming to make a mark in the popular sub-compact SUV segment in India.
