Skoda India is prioritizing safety in its MY24 update for the Kushaq and Slavia SUVs. Both popular models will now feature six airbags as standard across all trims, enhancing occupant protection.
Stronger Safety for All
Previously, only higher-end Kushaq and Slavia variants offered six airbags. Now, all trims – Active, Ambition, Style, Monte Carlo, and Elegance – benefit from this vital safety feature. This move aligns with Skoda’s commitment to offering exceptional safety standards and prioritizing customer well-being.
Building on a 5-Star Safety Rating
Both the Kushaq and Slavia already achieved a 5-star Global NCAP rating for adult and child occupant protection. The addition of six airbags further strengthens their safety credentials. This update comes after Skoda introduced several segment-first features in late 2023.
More Features, Unchanged Prices
The good news doesn’t stop at airbags. All other features and prices remain unchanged. The Kushaq starts at Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Slavia starts at Rs 11.64 lakh (ex-showroom). Both SUVs continue to offer a choice between a 1.0-liter TSI engine and a 1.5-liter TSI engine, with transmission options including 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic, and 7-speed DSG.
Recap: Skoda’s Recent Feature Updates
Launched in July 2021 (Kushaq) and March 2022 (Slavia), these SUVs are built on the MQB-A0-IN platform. In late 2023, Skoda introduced several segment-first features for the MY2024 range, including:
- Powered driver and passenger seats
- Illuminated footwell
- 25.4cm infotainment screen with Skoda Play Apps
- Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
These features are now available from the Ambition trim onwards.
ADAS and Potential Facelift on the Horizon
Reports suggest that Skoda is developing facelifts for the Kushaq and Slavia, expected to launch in 2025. These updates might include Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) to keep pace with rivals like the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Creta, Seltos, and Elevate, which already offer this technology.
The addition of ADAS, along with features like a 360-degree parking camera, electric parking brake, front parking sensors, and a possible panoramic sunroof, could significantly boost sales. While the engine lineup is expected to remain the same, the mid-2025 launch of the facelifted Kushaq and Slavia promises an even more compelling package for safety-conscious buyers.
