Honda is playing catch-up in the electric vehicle (EV) race, but they’re making a bold move in China. While they’re developing a global “0” series of EVs for release in 2026, China gets a special “Ye” electric lineup showcasing three new models: the P7 and S7 SUVs, and the GT Concept sedan.

“Ye” Shines a Light on Electrification

The name “Ye” translates to “shine brilliantly” in Mandarin, a fitting title for Honda’s ambitious electric car range in China, the world’s largest EV market. More models are expected to join the Ye lineup in the coming years.

P7 and S7 SUVs: Electric Twins with Distinct Personalities

The P7 and S7 SUVs share a striking resemblance except for the front and rear ends. Both boast sculpted bonnets, polygonal fenders, pop-out door handles, and a sleek silhouette with blacked-out pillars, side view cameras, and a raked rear windshield. They even share the same alloy wheels and the new Honda logo with spaced-out lettering at the back.

Unique Designs for P7 and S7

Despite their similarities, the P7 and S7 have distinct personalities. The P7 takes a more conservative approach with conventional C-shaped headlights and taillights. The S7, however, embraces a bolder look with unique X-shaped lighting elements at the front and H-shaped taillights at the rear. Both SUVs have different front and rear bumpers, and the charging port is located on the front fenders.

Tech-Packed Interior Awaits

Inside, both P7 and S7 offer a futuristic experience with a large portrait touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster, and a sporty, flattened steering wheel. AI-powered voice control and illuminated dashboards and door panels add a touch of luxury. Specific hardware details are under wraps, but expect both SUVs to be available in rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations.

Honda GT Concept: A Sporty Electric Sedan Vision

The GT Concept sedan previews a future Honda electric car with a sporty design. It borrows some design cues from the S7, such as the X-shaped lighting elements and taillight graphics. Deep fender air vents, a split rear windshield, and a Formula 1-inspired rear fog light add a touch of racing spirit. The opulent red and black interior boasts a fully digital experience with around six screens, including a unique touch-based gear selector.

Honda’s Electrified Future in China

Honda plans to launch six Ye electric models by 2027, along with the e:NP1 and e:NS1 (China-specific versions of the e:N1) and two more unnamed EVs. This translates to a total of 10 electric vehicles for China by 2027, with an ambitious goal of becoming an EV-only brand in the region by 2035.

Honda’s commitment to electric vehicles is evident in their dedicated lineup for China. The Ye series, with its stylish SUVs and a sporty sedan concept, showcases Honda’s vision for the future of electric mobility in the world’s largest EV market.
