JSW MG Motor India continues to expand its Blackstorm lineup with the introduction of the all-new Hector Blackstorm. Following the Astor and Gloster, the Hector becomes the third MG SUV to receive the sleek, blacked-out treatment. Both the 5-seater Hector and 6/7-seater Hector Plus Blackstorm editions start at an attractive price of Rs. 21.25 lakh and Rs. 21.98 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively.
Striking Design Enhancements
MG has opted for a subtle yet impactful design approach for the Blackstorm edition. The focus is on transforming the Hector’s look without altering its core form. This is achieved through extensive blacked-out elements on the exterior, accentuated by sporty red highlights.
The Blackstorm boasts a menacing Starry Black exterior paint job complemented by dark chrome accents across various elements. This includes the diamond mesh front grille, skid plates, tailgate garnish, and even the claddings. The 18-inch alloy wheels receive the black treatment as well, perfectly complementing the darkened theme.
Adding a touch of sportiness are the red-painted brake calipers that peek through the wheels. Other noteworthy exterior enhancements include piano black elements on the roof rails, headlamp bezels, and smoked connected LED taillights. MG dealerships will also offer optional Blackstorm badges for further personalization.
Sporty Black with Gunmetal Accents Define the Interior
Moving inside, the Hector and Hector Plus Blackstorm exude a sportier feel with a luxurious all-black upholstery. The extensive use of black is complemented by tasteful gunmetal grey elements scattered throughout the cabin. The front headrests sport embossed Blackstorm badges, while a leather-wrapped steering wheel adds a touch of sophistication.
Thankfully, MG hasn’t tinkered with the winning formula of the Hector’s interior. This means you’ll still find the massive 14-inch portrait-style touchscreen infotainment system along with a full TFT display for the instrument cluster, ensuring a feature-rich and tech-driven driving experience.
Engine Options and Pricing
The MG Hector Blackstorm is available in two engine configurations: a 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine churning out 143hp and a 2.0-liter diesel engine offering 170hp. Both engines can be paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox, while the petrol engine gets the option of a CVT gearbox as well.
The price varies depending on the engine and seating configuration. The 5-seater Hector Blackstorm with a petrol engine starts at Rs. 21.24 lakh, while the diesel variant goes for Rs. 21.94 lakh. The Hector Plus Blackstorm comes in 7-seater (petrol and diesel) and 6-seater (diesel only) options. The price ranges from Rs. 21.97 lakh to Rs. 22.75 lakh.
MG’s Commitment to Customer Satisfaction
Commenting on the launch, Satinder Singh Bajwa, Chief Commercial Officer, MG Motor India, expressed his confidence in the Blackstorm edition’s appeal. He highlighted MG’s dedication to providing unique experiences that blend power, luxury, and advanced technology. The Hector Blackstorm, with its bold black aesthetics, refined black interior, and gunmetal accents, embodies this commitment and caters to the evolving preferences of modern and style-conscious SUV buyers.
