Hyundai’s Creta has carved a niche as one of India’s best-selling compact SUVs. While the current facelifted model offers a range of colors, there’s one glaring omission for many Indian car enthusiasts – a matte black option. Enter the Hyundai Creta Alpha Edition, unveiled at the 2024 Bangkok International Motor Show, leaving us yearning for a similar variant on Indian soil.

A Matte Marvel We Can’t Ignore:

The Creta Alpha Edition is a sight to behold, draped in a captivating matte black exterior. This sophisticated and sporty finish stands out from the standard Creta’s color palette, offering a truly unique aesthetic. The black theme continues with gloss black accents on the alloy wheels, side cladding, C-pillars, shark fin antenna, and the bottom section of the roof spoiler.

Design Tweaks for a Different Market:

It’s worth noting that the Creta Alpha Edition is based on the ASEAN-spec model, which differs slightly from the Indian version. The ASEAN Creta boasts a Tucson-inspired parametric grille with a dark chrome finish, while the rear section also has a distinct design. However, the side profiles of both models remain largely similar.

An All-Black Interior Awaits:

The Creta Alpha Edition takes the design changes a step further on the inside. Stepping into the cabin, you’re greeted by a dramatic all-black theme encompassing the dashboard, door panels, headliner, and upholstery. The black seat covers feature a red Alpha symbol with a unique honeycomb pattern and contrasting red stitching, adding a touch of sportiness to the dark interior.

Features We Already Know and Love:

While the Creta Alpha Edition boasts a distinct visual package, it retains the features and functionalities of the pre-facelifted Indian Creta model. This includes engine options like the 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine (113 bhp & 144 Nm), the 1.5L turbo petrol engine (158 bhp & 253 Nm), and the 1.5L diesel engine (113 bhp & 250 Nm). Transmission options likely include the familiar 6-speed manual, CVT, 6-speed automatic, and 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

A Wish for India:

The Hyundai Creta Alpha Edition serves as a reminder of the immense potential for customization within the Creta platform. The matte black exterior and the all-black themed interior exude a bold and sophisticated charm that would undoubtedly find favor among Indian car buyers. Here’s to hoping that Hyundai considers launching a similar variant in India to cater to those who crave a Creta with a touch of darkness and a whole lot of attitude.
