In a triumphant return to the SUV segment after a hiatus, Honda Cars India Limited (HCIL) introduces the all-new Elevate compact SUV. With competitive pricing and a starting range of Rs. 10.99 lakh for the base SV trim, rising to Rs. 15.99 lakh for the top-spec ZX CVT trim (prices ex-showroom), Honda aims to make a strong impact.
Honda Elevate SUV Launched – A Resounding Return to the SUV Arena
Honda’s re-entry into the SUV space is not just a comeback but a bold move into one of India’s most competitive segments – the compact SUV category. Competing against formidable rivals such as Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, MG Astor, Skoda Slavia, Volkswagen Taigun, and the upcoming Citroen C3 Aircross, Honda faces a tough challenge.
Elevate: A Sensible Choice in the Compact SUV Segment
With the Elevate, Honda maintains its reputation for a no-nonsense approach and reliability. Elevate distinguishes itself in the segment with its practicality and sensibility. Its key strengths include a robust, upright bonnet, a boxy silhouette with strong proportions, 220 mm of ground clearance, and an inherent ruggedness. Honda offers a range of colors to suit various preferences.
Feature-Rich Offerings Across Trims
Even in the base SV trim, Honda generously equips the Elevate with features such as LED headlights, LED tail lights, keyless entry with request sensors, push-button start, steering-mounted audio controls, a digital Multi-Information Display (MID) in the instrumentation, front armrest, rear AC vents, auto climate control, electrically adjustable Outside Rear View Mirrors (ORVMs), and more. Honda’s inclusion of these features in the base variant is commendable.
Progressive Trims for Enhanced Comfort and Convenience
Moving up the trim levels, the second-base V trim introduces an 8-inch infotainment screen, among other features. Starting from the VX trim, Honda includes its larger 10.25-inch infotainment screen along with LED fog lights, LED turn indicators, 17-inch alloy wheels, a fully-digital instrument screen, paddle-shifters with automatic transmission, a single-pane sunroof, and more.
Top-Spec ZX Trim: A Complete Elevated Experience
For those seeking the ultimate “Elevated” experience, the top-spec ZX trim offers an array of premium features, including leatherette upholstery, extensive chrome accents, and a plethora of feel-good features. What’s more, the ZX trim comes equipped with Honda’s Sensing Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite, enhancing safety and convenience.
Powertrain and Future Prospects
Under the hood, the Honda Elevate features a 1.5L naturally-aspirated 4-cylinder petrol engine, delivering 119 bhp of power and 145 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a CVT with variable steps. While there isn’t a turbo petrol option for enthusiasts or a strong hybrid variant for tech-savvy consumers, Honda has exciting plans for the future, including a fully electric version of the Elevate.
Anticipated Deliveries and Exciting Prospects
Deliveries of the Honda Elevate will commence shortly, and early impressions suggest a promising future for this SUV. Mr. Takuya Tsumura, President & CEO of Honda Cars India Ltd., expressed his excitement, stating, “The Elevate’s development is a testament to extensive research and invaluable customer feedback. This positions the Elevate as a boldly stylish SUV that prioritizes a comfortable in-cabin experience along with exceptional driving dynamics and safety.” Mr. Tsumura further added, “Honda Elevate holds the potential to become a key pillar of Honda’s business in India, offering remarkable value to our evolving customers.”
With its re-entry into the competitive SUV market, Honda Elevate is poised to make a lasting impact and cater to the diverse needs of Indian consumers.
